Financing and derivatives tax

We have a well established financing and derivatives tax practice. We regularly advise banks, corporate groups, private equity firms, funds and others on all UK tax aspects of financing transactions and derivative contracts. Often we will provide structuring advice as well as implementing the arrangements in the most tax efficient way.

Our advice in this area is often innovative, in particular where our instructions relate to cross-border financing proposals for corporate groups and private equity firms.

Our practice spans leveraged and investment grade acquisition financing, bridge financing, real estate financing (including opco/propco structures), asset financing (including leasing transactions), securitisations, tax efficient structured finance, debt restructuring and complex financial instruments, including derivative contracts.

We are well placed to advise banks and corporate groups on the likely issues arising for them in relation to HMRC's recently announced Code of Practice on Taxation for Banks.

Our expertise is complemented by our membership of the Loan Market Association's Tax Committee. You can expect us to be up to date not only on the law, but also market practice and the ways in which it should be documented - important tools in this rapidly changing market.

We work closely with our financing and real estate colleagues and expert independent local counsel to provide a seamless implementation service across the jurisdictions involved in the transactions.
