Jat joined the firm in 1999 and specialises in a range of debt finance transactions, acting for corporate clients, private equity sponsors and lenders in relation to, amongst other things, acquisition finance transactions and workouts and restructurings.

Jat's restructuring experience includes a secondment to the Global Restructuring Group, Group Legal team at RBS, where he was involved in the $12bn restructuring of an international financial institution.

He has worked on several domestic and international private and public-to-private deals including the bid for Corus by CSN.  Jat's international finance experience also includes a secondment to the offices of a law firm in Milan, where he assisted with English law aspects of a securitisation and refinancing relating to a major Italian airport company.

Clients for whom he acts include 3i, e2v technologies plc, Four Seasons Health Care, Indigo Capital, office2office plc, Privet Capital, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Syntaxis Capital.

Recent highlights include advising:

• iSOFT in relation to its £152.5m debt restructuring and subsequent sale to CSC;
• Duke Street Capital in connection with the facilities for its acquisition of wagamama;
• together with Paul Weiss, Apollo in relation to its $510m acquisition of CKx, the makers of American Idol;
• Four Seasons Health Care in connection with the restructuring of its £1.7bn senior, mezzanine and PIK debt facilities;
• Syntaxis Capital and Indigo Capital in connection with the mezzanine facility for the acquisition of GTS Telecom;
• e2v technologies plc in connection with its £80m refinancing; and
• in relation to the refinancings of the Leisure Fund and the Industrial Property Investment Fund, each of which is managed by Legal & General Group plc.
